Soloplan receives scientific support from Fraunhofer ATL

Soloplan - supplier of transport and logistic solutions across Europe - and Fraunhofer ATL will henceforth work together. The Kempten-based company will thus receive scientific support towards the further development of the logistic program, CarLo.

The Fraunhofer workgroup on Technologies for the Logistic Service Industries (ATL) and Soloplan, the leading software developer based in Allgäu, Bavaria, are working together to develop an algorithm-based tour planning tool. In this way an optimized tour can be realized for the order backlog and other orders which have just been entered. "Our customers are under great pressure due to the factors of cost and competition. If they can optimally plan their tours, they can work more successfully. We want the new functions in CarLo to contribute towards this goal." explains Wolfgang Heidl, CEO of Soloplan Gmbh.

The algorithm to be designed by Fraunhofer ATL has the job of taking as many restrictions as possible into account when calculating the optimal tour. The foundations of a reliable plan are a uniquely assigned vehicle with loading capacity and availability and the order time frame. Other factors then come into play, for example, social provisions for the drivers, multiple capacity restrictions, the incompatibility of orders and continuous changes in newly received orders.

Therefore, Fraunhofer ATL and Soloplan want to develop a product where the integration of a high-performance algorithm supports the dispatcher 100%, thus aiding his decisions. The logistic software CarLo will then have another unique feature as there are currently no integrated solutions on the market.
